Brokers Group Denies Affiliation With Abrep

The Real Estate Brokers Association of the Philippines (Rebap) has clarified that it is not affiliated with A Better Real Estate Philippines (Abrep), a movement formed aimed at pushing for amendments to that Real Estate Act of 2009.

In a statement sent through Michael Agot, Rebap national director 2021, the group said, “The stand of our association is to unequivocally abide by the existing law that promotes the growth of the real estate industry.”

“Further, our association does not espouse what the group advocates for in the call to amend Resa, and neither do we recognize the forenamed movement as the industry’s voice,” the Rebap said.

Abrep mulls to transform the movement into an industry-wide coalition.

It previously named the Chamber of Real Estate Builders Associations, the National Real Estate Association, the Rebap, the Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines and the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association as some of its supporters that have united in the push for legislative change, although these groups have specific positions on proposed Resa amendments.

“Rebap shall come up with its own specific position on possible proposed amendments to the above-cited law. We are exhaustively ruminating on the two bills filed in Congress, specifically House Bill (HB) 8121 by Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez and HB 8233 by Rep. Joseph Stephen ‘Caraps’ Paduano. Rebap is part of the technical working group to study the same,” the group said.
