San Carlos aiming to build P1B sports complex
Updated: Jun 8
The San Carlos City government is aiming to enter into a public-private partnership for the construction of a P1 billion sports complex, Mayor Renato Gustilo said on June 5.
The sports complex will be built on a 5-hectare city government owned property in Galicia, San Carlos City, he said.
Under the PPP scheme the city can start paying for a loan for its construction three years after it is availed of, Gustilo said.
There is a contractor that has offered to partner with the city government for the construction of the sports complex, he added.
Gustilo said the San Carlos Sports Complex is expected to be bigger and more modern than the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City owned by the Negros Occidental provincial government.
The Development Bank of the Philippines has assured that a loan for the project can be approved in three to four months, he said.
The San Carlos City government is also constructing a 7-storey annex to its city hall, and has purchased land in the area for future expansion, he said.
Gustilo said P100 million has also been allocated by the Department of Public Works and Highways Special Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict for the concreting of roads in barangays Codcod, Nataban, Buluangan, Guadalupe, and Quezon.
The concreting of the barangay roads is expected to be completed this year, he said.
Also in the pipeline is the construction of a circumferential road that will connect a future reclamation area of San Carlos City going to the port, he said.
