CMWPI in NCR picked up further in April 2022
The annual rate of CMWPI in NCR moved up to 6.9 percent in April 2022, from 6.6 percent in March 2022. In April 2021, its annual growth rate was recorded at 2.4 percent.
Higher double-digit annual growths were recorded in the indices of reinforcing and structural steel which rose further at 11.2 percent; and fuels and lubricants at 41.7 percent during the month.
Moreover, annual increases were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Sand and gravel, 2.7 percent; b. Hardware, 4.6 percent; c. Lumber, 3.8 percent; d. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 1.9 percent; e. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 8.0 percent; and f. Painting works, 4.7 percent.
Meanwhile, annual increments were slower in the indices of plywood at 4.4 percent; electrical works, 9.5 percent; and PVC pipes, 3.8 percent. In addition, the index of tileworks remained at a decline with -0.4 percent annual drop in April 2022.
The indices of the rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month’s positive annual growth rates or had zero percent annual growth during the month.
